Bobilvei makes it easy to rent a motorhome or caravan directly from a private individual. You find it, plan the route, book safely — and drive out into Norwegian nature. Here is how:
Step 01
Find your motorhome or caravan
Search motorhomes and caravans all over Norway. Filter by place, dates and price. Every listing has photos, a detailed description and what is included.
See what is available in your city, or find the motorhome or caravan that suits your dream trip.
Step 02
Plan your route
Explore our hand-picked motorhome routes through Norway — from Atlanterhavsvegen to Lofoten. Every route has a stop-by-stop guide with campsites, motorhome parking and local tips.
Choose a ready-made route, or use one as the starting point for your own trip. Bobilvei helps you discover places you would never have found on your own.
Step 03
Send a request and book
When you have found your motorhome or caravan, you send a request to the owner. The owner reviews your request and approves it. You pay safely through Bobilvei — the amount is reserved on your card once you have entered your card details, and only charged when the owner approves. Booking opens before the 2027 season.

Step 04
Pick up the motorhome or caravan
Agree on a time and place for pickup with the owner. At handover, we recommend that you go through the motorhome or caravan together and document its condition with photos, so that you are both covered.
The owner shows you everything you need to know: how everything works, where things are, and any tips for driving.
Step 05
Hit the road — and bring it back
Now just enjoy the trip! When the holiday is over, you return the motorhome or caravan to the owner. We recommend that you document its condition again at return. Done.
After the trip, you can write a review of the motorhome or caravan.

Insurance
The owner must have valid insurance that covers renting out. We are looking into whether we can offer an insurance solution through Bobilvei.
Secure payment
Payment is handled by Bobilvei through Stripe. The card is only charged when the owner approves the request. No cash payments.
Documentation at pickup and return
We recommend documenting the motorhome's or caravan's condition with photos at both pickup and return.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions
How old do I have to be to rent?
You must be at least 21 and hold a valid driving licence. Category B (an ordinary car licence) covers motorhomes with a permitted maximum weight of up to and including 3,500 kg. Motorhomes over 3,500 kg and up to 7,500 kg need category C1, and heavier ones category C.
What does it cost?
Prices vary from listing to listing — the owner sets their own price. You see the total price, with the 12.5% service fee and any cleaning fee, before you send the request.
What if something goes wrong on the way?
Contact us at hei@bobilvei.no. If you and the owner cannot agree, the Bobilvei team helps resolve the situation. Liability for damage depends on the insurance cover for the booking in question.
Do I need special experience?
No, but we recommend that you have driven a motorhome or towed a caravan before — or that you take time to practise before you set off. The owner gives you a thorough introduction at pickup.
What is included in the rental price?
It varies from listing to listing. Some owners include bed linen, kitchen equipment and camping chairs. Others charge extra for additional equipment. Everything is in the listing.
Can I cancel?
Before the owner has approved your request, you can withdraw it at no cost. Once the booking is confirmed: 14 or more days before pickup: full refund minus a NOK 200 administration fee, but never less than half of what you paid. 7–13 days: 50% refund. Under 7 days: no refund.
Can I rent a caravan?
Yes. Choose “Caravan” under “What” in the search. Your car needs a tow bar and the right socket, and your driving licence must cover the car with the caravan. Each caravan listing shows what is needed, worked out from the caravan's permitted total weight.
