Bobilvei was started with one simple idea: renting a motorhome or caravan should be as easy as booking a cabin. At the end of 2025 there were over 51,000 motorhomes and over 126,000 caravans registered in Norway (OFV) — most of them stand unused for most of the year. At the same time, thousands of Norwegians and tourists dream of experiencing Norway's fjords, mountains and coastal roads from the driver's seat of a motorhome.
Bobilvei brings the two together: owners who want to earn from a motorhome or caravan that stands idle, and travellers who want to experience Norway in the most flexible way there is.
Our focus
We are not a general marketplace. Everything we do, from search to booking to routes, is made for motorhome and caravan rental. That means better filters, more relevant information and an experience that actually fits what motorhome and caravan travellers need.
Bobilvei is more than a booking platform. We pick out motorhome routes through Norway — from Atlanterhavsvegen to Lofoten — with stop-by-stop guides, campsite recommendations and local tips. The routes help renters plan the perfect trip, and are meant to bring the owners' listings more visits.
No request becomes a booking until the owner approves it, and all renters confirm that they are at least 21 and hold a valid driving licence. Payment is handled securely through Bobilvei, and we are looking into whether we can offer an insurance solution. We recommend documenting the motorhome's or caravan's condition thoroughly at pickup and return.
You get the whole rental amount. The renter pays the 12.5% service fee. No fixed costs, no lock-in period, no hidden fees. Stripe holds the money from the moment the renter pays. The payout is sent to the account you have connected, at the earliest two days after the pickup day (three days for your first three payouts). We publish the exact payout terms before booking opens.
Our vision
A motorhome or caravan holiday is the most flexible way to experience Norway. You stop where you like, sleep where you like, and wake up to a new landscape every morning. But access to motorhomes and caravans has been limited — either you own one yourself, or you rent from a large rental company at high prices.
Bobilvei opens up that access. We make it possible for private individuals to rent out their motorhome or caravan safely and easily — and we make it possible for everyone to experience the freedom of a motorhome or caravan holiday.
The founder
Bobilvei was founded by David Stakkeng Vang — a motorhome enthusiast and technologist who is building the platform from the ground up. The idea came from frustration: renting a motorhome in Norway was either expensive, impersonal or complicated. There ought to be a better option.
Bobilvei is run by David Vang AS, a registered limited company. Booking opens before the 2027 season.
